  • The Best Yet - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my third Grand Cherokee. My first was a 1997 Cherokee I-6 Laredo. I sold that with over 125,000 trouble free miles (one water pump). My second, which I still own with 176,000 trouble free miles, is a 1998 ZJ 5.9 liter Limited - The Big Dog. My wifes 2000 Grand Cherokee now has 85,500 trouble free miles on it. She travels 80 miles a day on the NJ Turnpike. I wouldnt want her driving anything else. Period.

  • Great 2WD SUV. Very Reliable. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought this with 12,000 miles on it in 2002 and now I have 186,000 miles. It is the 2wd version so it gets ok gas mileage, but not great. Other than a few minor repairs and maintenance, it has not been in the shop. Fit and finish is good. It has been a VERY reliable car. It is fairly comfortable on long trips and has great storage capacity with the back seats down. I love the way the back seats fold completely flat. Holds two dog crates and tons of luggage. The ride is a bit rough and it takes turns like a heavy truck, but other than that is a pleasure to drive. The engine is a V6 and has plenty of pep and low end torque. I dont tow anything so a V6 was fine for me.

  • Jeep Class - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I use to go through about one vehicle a year until I bought a used 1996 Grand Cherokee. I was so impressed with it, that within a year I bought my present 2000 model. The Jeep is perfect for my use. For a SUV, I consider its 23-24 mpg on the highway a decent performance. Although not a hot rod, it has all the power needed for 99% of the time. Other than the having the drivers power window unit replaced once, it has given me trouble free operation.

  • 2000 GCherokee - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have over 100,000 miles on my GCherokee. Biggest maintenance was replacement of the water pump. No oil buring, runs great on highway. Secret of longevity is probably the basic in- line six cylinder engine. Its bullet proof.

  • A very good mid size SUV - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Im generally very happy with this vehicle. We have had it for 3 years and over 50000 miles without any problems other than replacing the brake rotors. Our laredo is loaded with options and is fun and comfortable to drive. The stereo is great. My favorite feature is the quadradrive. This system is awesome how it sends power to the wheels with traction. I have tried and not been able to get it stuck in mud, snow and sand. I thought the V6 had enough power until we started towing a boat now wish I had a V8. Its a tough, go anywhere vehicle that doesnt look like a station wagon or minivan with four wheel drive. • Lost Confidence - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I owed a Jeep Sport for 6 years and bought a 2000 Grand Cherokee. This model has major rotor problems. 25,000 Rotors ground down, brakes changed 31,000 New Rotors and brakes (I paid 50%) 41,000 Need Rotors and brakes again. (paid by Jeep) Jeep put out a "technical bulletin" so there now is a "repair kit". (I have to pay 50% again) I am not the only person having this problem. Sincerely and frustrated....

  • It pulses and jumps a little - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This has been a great vehicle and fun to drive. It seems to accumulate fuel and cause a surge in the engine from time to time. It can jump when it is in drive and standing still. But, it is incredible as an off road vehicle and has very sophisticated traction. We manuevered through 30 inch snow and 5 foot drifts easily, and we played for hours in the snow virtually by ourselves, because no one dared. Great car.

  • Good Vehicle - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased with 40k miles in 06, currently has about 130k. I have had my fair share of repairs but overall it has been a reliable car for our family. If you have some knowledge of repairs and how to do some repairs you can save a lot of money, if not then you will pay a lot in repairs. I change brake pads twice a year no matter how they look, I change oil every 5k, i clean the injectors about 3 times a year, change plugs every year, 1 new coil pack, 1 water pump, 1 fuel pump, 1 radiator fan relay, 1 starter, 1 serpentine belt, 3 sets of tires, new front differential, 1 left axle, thats all I can think of over the past 4 years, overall a pretty good car.

  • Disappointed - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

very good exterior design but not high quality materials : leather seats showed quickly as "used" for example. Car not stable in turns, even at 25mph, my kids complain of being pushed to the sides when I turn. Greatly disappointed as I expected more in terms of quality. Had to replacve brakes/rotors twice in 2 years.

  • Bad Brakes but Good SUV - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD, I really like the drive and comfort but I am totally irrate about having to get 4 yes FOUR sets of front brake rotors. It started at about 7000-8000 miles and has happened about every 6000-8000 miles. The front brakes pulsate. I spoke to the dealer and they are aware that the problem is common with these SUVs, I also spoke to a customer service directly from Jeep and they said rotors are a wearable item and it must be my driving although a few months later Jeep issued a memo to all dealers informing them that this issue may be happening.
